Gwenhyfar's Travels

The afternoon sail was glorious and Gwenhyfar sliced through the acceleration zones of the Canary Islands. Supper at 5.30pm  was Salmon steaks and potatoes and Brocolli.

The Night watch started and the mizzen was lowered. Tim recorded a new top speed of 15.8 knots as we surfed down some of the larger rollers.

The night sail was fast and uneventful - we could see nothing but the stars! The fleet was now widely distributed and we passed only a few fishing boats.

Dawn saw the wind slowly die. At 11 a.m. we gybed and set a new CTS of 260' - It's now rolly and somewhat uncomfortable - and its overcast! However morale is high.

We are now settling into the routine of our watch system and we have a happy ship ...

Days Run was 187 miles. (We were hoping for over 200 miles but the wind as gone!)
We are now 50 miles off Western Sahara - but at least now pointing toward the Caribbean.....
