S/V Galatea update

I have just finished applying a liberal dose of anti-mosquito stuff to ward off the 6.30pm onslaught of the annoying critters!!

Firstly, my apologies for not providing any written update to Galatea's "diary" over the past several weeks.

We are back at the Yacht Haven Marina here in Phuket having returned from Krabi on Wednesday. Krabi, 50 miles by water from Phuket, is where Galatea and I spent the past 4 weeks. I had her hauled out, had a few scratches in the keel patched and faired, the underwater sections of the hull and the keel cleaned and painted with new anti-fouling paint and a host of other relatively minor repairs and improvements made. This included the installation of a water making system, something that we have not had up to now, but with the expected lack of places available for water fill-ups in the Indian ocean, something I felt would be a worthy addition.

Teague joined me in Thailand on Wednesday the 9th, and our friend, Mike Bate from Melbourne, Australia, joined us on Monday

Since returning to Phuket the boat projects have continued, including looking into a leaking engine oil cooler and misaligned engine mounts, both previously "fixed" in August last year, checking standing rigging (the wires that hold the mast up) tension, and replacing most of the running rigging (the ropes that control the sails).

We will be provisioning over the next couple of days for a planned departure from Yacht Haven marina on Tuesday the 17th and a final check out from Thailand on Wednesday. We will then be heading westwards 250-odd miles to Sabang at the northern tip of Sumatra, Indonesia.

That's it for now.

All's well on Galatea.
