Day 40 Sun June 24 Oban - farewell to Delta Force
(In which we bid farewell to Cloughs and Bloxhams, introduce DF to the Isle of Kerrera, and forget to make the required time for the ferry back to Oban.)
We checked out of the Caledonian, making forceful complaints (along with several other residents) about the beds, the service, the rooms, the TVs etc. Apologies from the Duty Manager will almost certainly make no difference at all, but we resolved to follow up in writing to Head Office (for what good that will do). After photographs by the harbour wall and farewells to Bloxhams and Cloughs, we caught the 1210 ferry to Kerrera, where the meal did not disappoint the ever-discriminating gourmets of Delta Force! Those travelling onwards had set a deadline for the 1400 return ferry, which needless to say we failed to remember over our hearty lunch. So we all returned on the 1500 boat, having made our plans for the next meeting (possibly Marrakech!), and had our farewell hugs and kisses. Another great DF weekend to go down in the annals. Back to real life, we bought a new travel bag for Cate from Argos, booked our seats for the rail journey to Glasgow, and back to Vega for Pot Noodles for supper!
