Friday and Saturday in Padstow passed in unbroken sunshine, accompanied by howling wind which continually blew sand and grit from the harbour wall down on to our boat below, getting into every crevice on the deck, through the hatch, into the cockpit, onto our lunch, and onto all our bedding in the forepeak! Apart from that, and the ongoing need to adjust our lines up and down to avoid arriving home from the shops or pub to find Vega suspended like a puppet, we passed a very pleasant two days' (largely wind-enforced) rest.  There are shops, pubs and cafes aplenty, and the town was buzzing with visitors both days.  Benj paid a visit to the National Lobster Hatchery - more interesting than it sounds - where he learned lots of things about the creatures, and saw how they rescue females who are pregnant ('berried'),  keep them in a 'maternity ward', hatch and nurture the teeny lobsterlets until they are mature enough, and release them to replenish the stocks. Fascinating and well presented exhibits.  Padstow is virtually owned by Rick Stein, and we visited his shop, his deli, his fish market, and (in passing) his seafood cookery school, and ate Friday supper at his Fish and Chip Shop (grilled mackerel and hake) and Saturday lunch at his Cafe (the best Seabass I have ever had, accompanied by Chalky's Bite Ale, fennel flavoured, at 5.8%).  On Saturday afternoon Benj caught the Rugby Preemiership Final (Quins 23 Tigers 16) at the Old Ship Inn, with lubrication from Sharp's Special, but sadly no Doom Bar available in the town where the Doom Bar is!  We returned that evening for supper and some live music (not that good), and back to the boat to ready for next day's sailing.  Cate retired and Benj sat up gradually letting the dock lines down until after midnight.
Overall this was the highlight of our trip so far, relaxing in endless sunshine in a pretty harbour and town.
