HOWEVER: having achieved all the painting without a single splash, while descending from the boat I managed to lose my grip on a plastic box containing an old tin of Plastimo Navy antifoul, which landed and opened onto the teak sole of the cockpit, and splashed over the GRP of the cockpit seats and starboard side coaming. With much cursing at my own stupidity, I managed to get the board off the boat (down the ladder in the wind - the cause of the accident) and wash/scrub as much as possible off, leaving only a few stains. The gleaming white GRP of the cockpit is another matter, and is still defaced despite much immediate scrubbing. I have posted for advice on various sailing fora, and will have to revisit (when the rain stops) with bleach(?), paint stripper(?) and much trepidation. Sadly not the end to a perfect day.
Anyway, the upside is that we re-launch next week (Tuesday 1st May) with ONLY 13 DAYS TO GO!!!
