Nassau is back within eyeshot - its large concrete towers and the monstrous pink complex of Atlantis just a few miles away. We decided to anchor for the night off Rose Island - a long thin strip of land to the east which is home to some exclusive looking houses perched above their private docks. It is said to be a favourite haunt for Nassau day trippers. The run across the Yellow Bank was uneventful, and we donked the whole way. The day's only real excitement was two fish strikes on the coquettish pink squid lure. The first was shortlived, but the second had the line racing off the reel with an incredible urgency. I'm convinced it was a large marlin or a lost mahi-mahi, but after about 10 seconds of buzzing, the line went slack and I reeled in the lure with nothing to show for itself, save a few lost tentacles.
