It's been another sun drenched day - such a change from our experience north of Finisterre. We were up early in Toxe exploring the playground for the 'smart set' as the pilot described them. The smart set clearly enjoy playing 9 holes of golf then walking up a 'mountain' all of 20m above sea level. It's a beautiful island, though.

We puttered out of the ria with about 8 knots of wind - enough to do a leisurely 3 knots through the water. For the first time yet this trip, we anchored up off a beach for lunch en route to our overnight anchorage. The water was 19 degrees - not Caribbean by any stretch of the imagination, but lovely all the same. On the beach we found a great boulder in the surf encrusted with mussels.

I spent five minutes twisting off the biggest ones and had to swim back to the boat with all the shells. We cooked them in the Jaouen style, with curry powder and cream. Alex was sceptical at first, waiting for me to taste the first one, in case I fell over clutching my stomach. She finished hers first however, with a big smile on her face.

We're now at the Islas Cies, which look positively Caribbean, draped with lush foliage and sporting a luxurious looking beach of white sand. There's a bit of reflected swell entering the bay which means it's harder to sleep but there's no wind and we've got the prospect of exporing the island in the morning.

Then on to Porto overnight tomorrow, hopefully arriving at about 9am on Friday - early enough to scrub up in time to meet Alexis and Rita.
