We left Laurentia and drove on the D 608 towards Hobas and the Fish River Canyon, through glorious open countryside with mountains in the distance, no traffic at all and almost no habitation.  We crossed into a huge private game reserve and saw lots of gemsbok, springbok, zebra and a few wildebeeste in the distance. We called in at the Canon Roadhouse for a coffee and liked the place so much we decided to stay in their camp site and wait there for Garth tomorrow.

 

We had a very pleasant evening with two South African overland travellers, Alan and Ilona and a delicious meal of springbok medallions.
