We are in the Galapagos Islands, San Cristobal to be exact. The wildlife
is awesome, totally unafraid of humans. We have had a seal mum and pup
sleeping on the aft deck of the boat for the week, and have seen lots of
seals, iguanas, giant tortoises, blue footed boobies and Equadorians. We
are still in Central America so everything is still mentally expensive
but they rip you off while being nice about it here, which is not so
bad. There are alot more tourists and general populas living here than
we expected and San Cristobal has quite a little metropolis going. There
are markets on saturdays and lots of local little hole in the wall
placed to eat out. The local water taxis share the taxi pontoon with a
large group of very playful seals, the are really like the labradors of
the sea. Steve and Nicki have been diving since we have been here and
seen galapagos sharks, white and black tips, lots of fish and seals. The
seals like it when you blow bubbles from your reg at them...great fun!
Anyhow, we are off to the Marqueses this weekend... probably leaving
this Sunday. Estimating 4 weeks but if weather in uncooperative could be
alot longer. It is 3000nm after all. Despite being late in the season,
there are at least 4 other boats leaving for the same route at about the
same time. So, we are not alone (hahaha). Sadly Dom won't be doing this
leg of the trip with us and has organized to fly home to Scotland after
we leave. We will miss him. So now the crew is down to two...plus skipper.
Caio for the next month or so.
