After a cruisy trip through the Panama Canal, we spent the next two weeks working on the boat in Panama City. Dom and Nicki went back to the Atlantic side to help a kiwi couple, Jane and John, get their boat through the canal. They were held up there for a week because of troubles with transferring funds (the canal authority has decided not to let anyone pay with credit cards so you have to transfer money from bank to bank, which proved to be difficult for a NZ bank). In the mean time Steve and Dee had the boat in pieces replacing hatches and making clears to go around the cockpit, while dealing with some rough weather, dragging anchors and thunder storms...all part of the fun!
We had a day susing out Panama City, enjoyed some nice food, local beer, and found some cheap clothes. But we weren’t too sad to leave the busy and disgustingly dirty anchorage!
