Just when you have applied enough beatings to finally get a crew in shape they go and bugger off. To new zealand no less. The boat feels empty and my kiwi jokes are falling on deaf ears. Night watches are more arduous. We miss her heaps.
Nuitoputapu is everthing you would expect of a disaster zone. Well except for one thing. Smiles. These people have shrugged it off enough to still give us a warm welcome and play the genial host in spite of being too scared to come down out of the hills. There was another stunamis alarm while we sailed here. Apparently it was called off twenty minutes later but the two earth quakes in vanuatu and the subsequent alarm was too much for frayed nerves. So there wont be any rebuilding till they come to terms with it.
We were given a ton of fruit today by the locals to say thanks for all the gear we bought them. Kids were coming up us in the street to say thanks for the flip flops we bought with us.
Nice people.
