There is a beautiful school in Nuku Hiva that serves kids up to age 16. After that, they all go to boarding school in Tahiti to finish their education- 700 miles away!
Everything is paid for by the state, including round trip air travel for two month-long trips home each year. Apparently the kids all love it, partly because their parents can’t put them to work on domestic chores when they are so far away. Surprising to think how these young people probably get a broader education than many in more developed countries.
