Fickle winds and rain

The finish line seems a lot closer today as we come within 1000 miles, but Neptune tortured us with light winds and slow progress for much of the day, only to give us a series of 30 knot squalls just as we had full sail up. Crew feeling exhausted but overall, another good day. For this evening, the winds seem to have settled back to their more-usual 20 knot pattern, and the seas are finally starting to calm down a little. The wear and tear on the rig is taking its toll with various lines needing splicing or repair, sometimes requiring creative thinking for how we make do with the lines and limited spares we have on board. 15:27.6N 44:40.5W ![]() |
