28:56.83S 029:12.33E Arrival in Africa
Arrival in Africa We have been distracted. The excitement of arriving in Africa, the first time for all of us except Durcan, who travelled here in a truck with 13 girls some years ago, has kept me from my blog duties. We did arrive safe and sound and docked at the Durban Marina at 15:30 on Monday, 21st November. Louis brought the boat into our allotted spot with some trepidation, as the space was very tight. He achieved the maneuver elegantly, without incident, thanks to the fending off prowess of Durcan and Giles. After scrubbing the boat from head to toe on Tuesday, we took a break from the boat and headed up to the Drakensberg mountains, with the crew from Seabird, for a couple of days to the South Africa wilderness. We are happy to report that we have made a connection which will allow us to give solar lanterns and reading glasses, as well as stationery and clothing to a local Zulu village. More to follow… |
