Stuart's strategy of going north seems to have worked out as planned -
despite not getting as high up as we had hoped, as we came back down we had
the angle to take advantage of more wind appearing from the south.

We were able to put several hours of sailing behind us at a steady 5 knots
through the night, which enabled engine checks, coolant and oil top-ups to
be completed as needed. All slept intensely in the engine-less, peaceful
sailing conditions.

The more superstitious amongst the crew harken back to the auspicious
sighting on AIS 3 nights ago of 'Louis', a large cargo ship on our starboard
side, as the turning point for our wind-fortunes, in addition to the
well-wishes from our far-flung blog readers.

Thankfully Irene IV can provide a high speed over ground given the wind
speed, which has also helped us immensely.

Today, back to hot, sunny conditions with the wind dropping to almost zero
knots.

The time under sail provided us with some more margin for error on diesel
calculations and we are now motoring through glassy seas towards our
destination with, all going well, sufficient hydrocarbon sustenance.
Perkins Engine's should be getting more confident of their Christmas
hampers.

Unconfirmed rumours abound of business schools scrambling to get to Antigua
to learn about Stuart's excellence in strategic planning (Angler's Monthly
not expected to call).

The last batch of Ian's scones have been polished off.

The night sky is vivid with shimmering stars and planets.

All going well, ETA is Friday.

225 NM to Antigua.
