After a well intentioned start, we hit our first snag this morning - the Digicel wireless USB modem ran out of time. We postponed our departure until this afternoon, after a morning trip into Albrook Mall to buy another 3GB or 1 months worth of time for $15. John had a haircut (short) and i bought a replacement watch after my $30 one i bought inn Aus at Christmas died. We decided to head over to Taboga Island again before heading to Pedro Gonzales Island in the Las Perlas group tomorrow (about 30nm from here). We were able make water today and filled both tanks and that means i can wash my hair tonight (thank goodness). The water maker will make ample water from here on in as the water will be clean enough to run it (dirty water is not good for the filters or the membrane). We also have 830 litres of diesel on board and 10 weeks worth of food which is making us somewhat low in the water.
This anchorage is considerably calmer than the previous anchorage at La Playita. Here there are no work boats or large ships producing wake, some of which would cause us to run and catch stuff that had been left on benches. The islanders must have known we were heading off on a great adventure as they set off a fire works display - I'm sure they were for us! We arrived at 3.30pm and John did a wash in our new twin tub washing machine. We can run it off the generator and will make life a lot easier on the crossing. It cost US$107 and will be worth every cent (or penny).
