Bar Harbour, Mount Desert Island, ME...
Position 44 23.67N, 68 11.99W
We spent a few days in South West Harbour on MDI enjoying the generosity of a local who let us use his guest mooring buoy for free. In addition, we were entertained by the local OCC Port Officer – Suzie - who, not only took Roger to her Golf Club to play in a “Scramble” competition, but also drove us all around the Arcadia National Park to get a feel for the Island. We had a great week but felt we may be overstaying our welcome on the buoy so reluctantly we moved on to Bar Harbour which is a much busier little place and which seems to have Cruise Ships visiting almost every day…. Having said that, there are lots of Bars & Restaurants and we are enjoying the Happy Hour $3 pints together with the dog walking opportunities and, yes, Archie is still pulling Basil’s ears when we go out – much to the entertainment of the visiting Cruise Ship guests…. We are waiting for some Southerly wind to come along to head a bit further North to dip our toes in Canadian waters before we turn around and go further South for the Winter…. |
