I went up in the dark to tack. That done, back to bed. Had a short nap and went up to see how things were going and to my surprise the self steering was not driving the boat. Its line was tight and disconnected. Had a look over the back and could see the port bracket had sheared off and dropped a couple of inches. The stb side one had half sheared. I secured the Hasler with some lines, disengaged the blade and let the boat steer itself.
It is 120 NM to Praia (Terceira) from here, with the wind against me I recon couple of days tacking. I would have either to weld new plates or have a new bracket made.
It is all part of the fun.
