Brindisi 7th September
With a 60 mile passage to complete we made an early start at 0550 and had the main sail up before we left the harbour. It was a beautiful clear morning with a light easterly breeze. We saw quite a number of fishing boats and later lots of yachts on our journey south. The coastline is very flat so nothing much of interest apart from the odd rocky headland and occasionally through the binoculars we could make out more of the weird Trulli structures dotted around the rural landscape. There was also quite a bit of coastal shipping and of course ferries. We made good time picking up the south going currant and arrived in the port at 1700 and we were soon moored on a pontoon in Brindisi marina having called them in advance by phone and then on the VHF on arriving inside the harbour.
This was just a transit stop for us so we didn’t leave the marina. However it has a shop and a good restaurant and bar as well as showers, toilets and full hook-up services all for 29 Euros! We had a good night’s sleep and left very early the following morning to sail to Corfu.
