Isla Canela

37:11.5N 007:20.45W Monday 1st of September The wind got up from the SW again and we had a very bumpy,
rather uncomfortable motor sail to the next port Isla Canela, a constant pot watch
had to be kept as the whole area was littered with them! On arrival we had to
berth on the waiting pontoon which proved to be very tricky and unfortunately
with the wind and tide setting us on very rapidly I crunched the port side of
the boat! However the sound proved to be worse than the damage and with some
luck we will only need to polish out the marks! We were finally allocated a berth and manoeuvred to this
with Vic and Reg waiting to take our lines. This marina is fairly new and the
showers were excellent, but the charge of 41Euros was rather off putting, we
may return after the first of October when the rates drop! The town has
developed as a tourist destination built up around the marina with many cafes,
bars and restaurants. The old fishing town was a long walk away so we
didn’t make it this time, but by all accounts this is where to go for a
really good fish meal. We were interested to note there is an Australian
restaurant called Outback at the marina and apparently they serve very good
food but it was closed on Mondays! We managed to get some fresh bread at the
small supermarket before leaving on Tuesday heading for Ayemonte. Jacky and Rob |
