Porto Colom
39 25.3N 003 15.8E Thursday 28th May We arrived in Porto Colom on Monday night and dropped the
anchor for the night. The holding was good and we had a quiet night. The
following morning we secured to the Port Authority pontoon and booked in for 3
nights. The showers and toilets are new and the pontoon wide and stable. Water
connection has to be obtained from the office. We were able to organise for a
marine electrician to come to fit the new Pro-splitter and he duly arrived on
Wednesday morning however the part we had obtained from Sterling Products
proved to be too complicated to fit easily so we hope we can send it back and
get a refund! In the meantime Frank the ‘lecky’ promised to return
on Thursday with a suitable part to get the job completed. Tuesday was spent at my sister’s villa swimming in her
pool relaxing on sun-loungers and enjoying a spell off the boat! I had a fruitless walk to find the internet wifi cafe
– it was closed on Wednesdays but I did find a small internet access
point in a sweet shop where I was able to read my googlemail emails. We had a
restful day although the wind did get up and we had to back off the pontoon to
avoid crushing the fenders! Watched to European Football Man. U. v. Barca
on our own TV – bit disappointed with the result but needless to say the
Spanish celebrated in style with fireworks and cars hooting their horns after
the end of the match. This morning the electrical work was completed by 1000
– 130 Euros in total so not bad. We washed down the boat and I cleaned
the interior – even had the hoover out! The sun is shining but the wind
has returned to a fresh NE 4/5 as per the forecast. Tonight we will have a meal at the Restaurant Mestral (see
Bali Hai’s blog if you are interested as to why), with my sister and her
husband as we are all leaving tomorrow. Next stop somewhere to the north of
here and then Menorca. I
