ALICE'S ADVENTURES
ANDREW AND CELIA SHARPE
Wed 8 Dec 2010 12:11
Andrew isolated the hot water cylinder as the cause of the leak and emptied it out.  The watermaker has stopped being temperamental and worked well filling up the empty port water tank with over 450 litres. Thank you to Toby Hague of Keto (who fitted it) and Caroline  Oldham of Advance Yacht Company (who supplied it) for your replies.  Further testing to be done when we stop rolling about.  So we now have plenty of fresh water but all cold.  Quite refreshing really!  Roger the cabin boy now has no more excuses not to have a shower and a shave!!

We are still really going well.  Havent seen any more boats since Rikaros.  We have done over 200 miles in 24 hours on the log but not necessarily to the finish as we go up and down mountains in the sea!  It has been very rough with a huge swell.   Over 4 days of non stop sailing now at an average of 8.3 knots and a top speed surfing down a wave of 12.7.

Roger cooked us a delicious chicken risotto on Monday and then last night it was back to our staple rough weather meal of pasta bolognese.  Most of the fresh salad and veg has gone now but the apples and oranges we bought in the market are still wonderful.  They are absolutely huge so we cut them into chunks for a mid morning or afternoon snack.  Should just have enough to get us there.

646 miles to the finish.  ETA is still Sunday.  We changed the clocks again yesterday and are now on UTC -3.
