HALF WAY
ALICE'S ADVENTURES
ANDREW AND CELIA SHARPE
Fri 3 Dec 2010 12:04
Following our rainwater showers yesterday the wind
settled down and we had a slow sail. By nightfall the wind had eased
and we motored for part of the night. At 1.00 the rain started again and
lasted for 2 hours. The wind was only 3-5 knots for the first hour or two
but then built up until we had a 25-30 knot southwesterly. We have covered
28 miles in the last 3 hours - great going. Still 1460 miles to
go.
Unfortunately the generator stopped working again last
night. We had been doing most charging off the engine. No smell of
burning this time so we will wait until we get in to see what the problem
is. Fingers crossed there wont be too much damage this time.
A little bird landed in the cabin last night in the
middle of a rainstorm - right on Andrew's head. He gave it some
bread, put it in the cockpit and after a little while it flew
away. I have asked 4ES to look up what sort of bird it is for
us. It was the size of a thrush, black with a hooked beak and webbed
feet.
We were at our half way point yesterday afternoon.
1580 miles on the log, 1570 still to go at that time. We celebrated with
chocolate!! Alcohol is waiting until St Lucia.
