We’ve spent a few days in San Cristobal and now it’s time to move. It’s been fairly easy for us, but a lot of boats have been asked to go out of the national park, scrub their hulls (as something suspect has been found on them) and then return to be re-inspected. All a bit of a joke as they were sent up current for two nights while a completely ineffectual dive company (sea-sick divers) did the job for them. On their return the authorities decided that without further inspection they now all passed the strict regulations for being here!!

Our days here have been amazing, seeing the giant tortoises, walking the crater lake, blue boobies, snorkelling with sea lions and hammerhead sharks, not to mention the salt spitting marine iguanas. They can be seen fighting territorially in the street just up from the ferries. It’s not really fighting as you’d know it as they can’t really be bothered – in fact it almost looks like some appalling 2000BC mock up that deserves Raquel Welch in a set of furs appearing anytime!

The sea lions have been amazing to watch, swimming with such agility around the boat looking for a way on. We have a straight transom so it’s impossible for them to climb but many of the boats have woken up to these stinky, noisy things in their cockpits, as well as everything that comes out of a sea lion. Seriously to be avoided!!

It was time for a haircut, so off I went in search of someone who had scissors and a place to do the deed. When you get to these parts of the world it becomes more and more obvious that having the dealership for something that you have on board basically just means that you own a t-shirt with the make on it. No qualifications required! So with this in mind the difference between a bad haircut and a reasonable one is usually about 2 weeks. The photos speak for themselves and as for the choice of style – I think I ended up with a bit of a Beiber-Pitt!
