We left Salvador with Bob and Margit on board. Having had some weather information before hand we knew that the wind was going to be ‘on the nose’ so after a day and a half we had to change our genoa for our heavy upwind sail. After that it was plain sailing, apart from the numerous squalls that we are starting to encounter as we get closer to the equator. The last night out before getting into the islands was particularly stormy with a huge raincloud chucking it down every twenty minutes or so, followed closely by no wind for ten minutes afterwards. We spent the entire night in the cockpit, easing sails for the gusts and then bringing them back in when the wind died.

The drought of fish has been broken with a big Wahoo, so fresh fish is back on the menu and we are very much looking forward to more as we make our way north.
