We had a great week anchored off the Nanuya Resort in the Blue Lagoon.

We did end up taking the dinghy up to the Bay of Plenty and to the gardens where we got to go and help the owner pick some fresh vegetables which were very yummy.

Next time we will go at high tide as they have an entrance that can be accessed via the mangroves which was not doable when we went at half-tide.

We met lots of great people up at the anchorage and often went ashore for sundowners which was lots of fun.  We are totally out-numbered here by Kiwis but they seem to be friendly – well most of the time unless we are playing them in a Rugby Game.

On the 2nd August we decided it was time to start heading back to Nadi (Port Denarau) as we were quickly running out of provisions on board.

We up anchored at around 10.00 and headed back to Natuvalo Bay which again proved to be a comfortable anchorage for the night.

As the winds were really calm we decided to take the kayak out for a paddle over to the shallows and had an explore of the reefs from above the water rather than being in it.

On the 3rd we headed down the West side of Naviti and then Waya Islands and ended up at the anchorage down at the south end of Waya island where we were anchored off the swash ways which meant we had water up wind of us at high tide – quite an odd feeling!!!

We had a lovely sail back down to Port Denarau on the 4th.  This took us past Vomo Island as well as Beachcomber and also Treasure Island where Mark and his family had a holiday back in the 70’s – at some stage we are going to arrange a visit to see if it has changed much in the last 40years!!!

We made it safely down to Port Denarau and are finding it much easier to get around as we are now going back over old tracks so it is all a bit more familiar but no doubt will be faced with some more stressful days once we adventure to new places.  The last few days have been wet so we have pretty much been boat bound although we have managed a couple of trips into Nadi and around Denarau Island on the $1.00 bus. We also went up to Lautoka yesterday, which was a big trip on the bus, to see Customs and start some dialogue about extending our boat permit to 2years – more work required on this one.  Why we were in the area also dropped into Immigration to extended our visitor’s visa.

Looks like we will spend another couple of days in at Marina which has a number of very flashy superyachts tied up including Suri (which apparently is an heavily modified and extended crabbing boat that used to feature on “The Deadliest Catch” and the modestly named yacht Atlantic so we feel right at home!!

Hopefully on the weekend we will head out to tackle the northern end of the Yasawa Islands.
