We had a wonderful time while were in at Vuda Marina.  The staff and all our fellow yachties are great and more than happy to help out.

We did a couple of expeditions into Lautoka and also into Nadi which is more the tourist town.

Both are great and we were able to find all the things we need to make life aboard good including plenty of Fiji Bitter which seems to now be Mark’s choice of beverage.

After 10days in marina world we felt we better get out amongst it or we may never leave so we departed from Vuda Point on the morning of the 13th July and headed across to Musket Cove which is only about 16NM.  Musket Cove is pretty much every yachts first port of call out here as they have a marina so yachties are more than welcome in fact we are now life members.  It is also quite well marked with buoys, although the charting is crap, but at least gets you use to dealing with coral which seems to be pretty much everywhere.

We have now been at Musket Cove for a few days and have enjoyed going for a morning walk to various parts of the island and stopping in at the coffee shop for a coffee and muffin and we are pleased to report that they make good coffee out here.

We have also gone ashore to the yachties bar of an evening but unfortunately the wind has been tending to get up in the afternoons so we found it was all a bit blustery in there but we might venture in there again this evening.

ON WATER CARNAGE AT MUSKET COVE

We have been for a plenty of swims as the water is lovely and clear and a very comfortable 26C at the moment so not too hard to take a quick dip!!.  We also went for our first Fiji snorkel yesterday out on the sand quay near the anchorage which had plenty of fishies and they are obviously used to being fed by the tourists as they kept following us around and giving us the odd nip….. luckily we had some bread with us so were able to give them a bit of a feed.  Apparently there are some pretty good snorkelling spots out here so looking forward to finding them.

This place is pretty amazing and not sure how many anchor lights there were out here last night but we have plenty of company!!!
