We arrived at Vuda Marina on the 17th October and spent about 10days in the water doing a big clean-up of the boat including cleaning out every drawer, surface and orifice on the boat which were then washed down with vinegar in the hope of preventing mould and mildew growing while we were away.

We were hauled out on the 3rd November by Mo and his travel lift team and we had a couple of casual workers in to help with the boat sand to remove the last of the anti-foul in preparation for slipping next season.

Sally was then carefully put into her keel pit and the hull supported on tyres and is where she will spend the 5months during the cyclone season.

The rest of the preparation jobs where then done over the next week including:

·         Removal of all canvas, wind generator and solar panels

·         Flushed and serviced outboard

·         Minor dinghy repairs including removal of Suva Harbour scum line.  Deflated and stowed on front deck

·         Painted and stored anchor and anchor chain – note this was the only colours available!

·         Fresh water flush of all skin fittings, motor, gen set and toilet outlets

·         Polished the exterior

·         Installed the new boat covers that we had made locally by Marshall Sails which look very smart

·         Conducted chemical warfare by applying ant chalk and cockroach powder around the hull

·         Stuffed flywire into every orifice where a bug or bird may like to call home

·         Placed dehumidifier packs around the boat

·         Final Clean

·         Locked Companionway Door.

·         Waved good bye with a tear in the eye!!!

Sally’s Summer Home including ocean views

The service here has been excellent and we have even been able to arrange for a weekly inspection of the boat including a good air out, a monthly change-over of the dehumidifier packs and if we require a wash & clean service can be arranged.  The marina will then send us a weekly condition report and photos if requested so sounds like Sal will be in good hands while we are away.

We have an early morning flight tomorrow 11th of November and have already started planning out adventures for next season.

Over and out for Season 2016.
