Hello Everybody
We are slowly inching our way across the Pacific
with little wind and lots of rain ,in fact it rained all day today so we took in
a movie and watched "Master and Commander",its a bit like being on our boat
really,if you have a vivid imagination.
At the moment we are only doing about 120/130 nm
per day as we need to conserve fuel, tomorrow we will transfer our reserve
fuel into one of our main tanks, we use a rather clever but simple siphon tube
for this as it can be tricky trying to pour when the boat is moving about
normally a lot of fuel is spilt.
The remainder of the fleet (3 boats) have now
left the Galapagos with their repairs completed it will be touch and go as to whether all of the repairs will hold up
over the next 3000 nm,the only repair you can be sure of is the one you do
yourself.
The fleet of 30 boats are now spread out over
1200nm some having left port 4/5days before us it quite surprising that within
3hrs 2 boats that left port at the same time will be out of sight of each
other our only contact is e-mail and our SSB radios which transmit over vast
distances unfortunately the quality of the transmission varies with atmospheric
conditions and it can be very difficult at times, mind you yesterday I managed to
download a weather forecast transmitted via a Belgium radio
station.
Well that's all for now
