We are now sailing south towards Lanarote just off the coast of Africa approaching Casablanca,(any Bogart fans out there)We had a discussion about the name of the bar in the film can you guess, its Ricks.
At the moment the sea is moderate with a Northerly breeze of 16/20 knts which is blowing us South at 7 knts which will give us 150 mls a day.Lanzarote is about 3 days away from us.
We had problem with the gearbox on leaving Sotogrande where we could only engage forward gear so we decided to carry on to Gibraltar where all the rally boats were assembling for the departure on the 28th Oct and have it repaired there.Between the Spanish customs and the carriers TNT they managed to make a complete hash of delivering it to us and it didn't arrive until the Wednesday evening and we were leaving on the Sunday giving us not a lot of time to run trials on it.anyway between the lot of us we had the new box fitted in three hours that evening, and tested the following day,it seems ok my spanner was at the ready.

Mind you if it wasn't for Westways(the suppliers of the boat I don't think we would have got it in time to leave with the rest of the fleet they were brilliant )

The boat is going really well and the weather is great Blue Sky's fair wind and a relatively smooth sea what more could you want. This is really the start of our adventure and thanks to all the crew she is in very good shape and looks extremely smart at was remarked by the rally control we slipped our lines in Gibraltar.

By the way if you want to know what its like to berth a boat in the marina without reverse try parking in a multi story car park you have never been in without brakes and reverse.

That's all for now
