Hello All

We are now in Bonaire which is in the Dutch Antilles located about 50nm of the coast of Venezuela on our way to Aruba about 100nm west.

Bonaire is famous for its scuba diving and snorkelling as the whole coast line is a marine reserve in fact yesterday we had just had lunch in the main town (of the one horse variety) and I was just sitting on a bench looking into the sea when not 10ft away there were these brilliant turquoise fish about ten of then  15 to 18 inches long just swimming so close.(you wouldn't really expect them to do anything else )but it was the proximity that was surprising.

Mainly the island is volcanic rock with a lot of green vegetation (because it rains so much) and only 10ft above sea level apart from two peaks on at 400ft and the other at 130ft.It also has a National Park which we we see later after snorkelling.Apart from this and the watersports activities it looks very much like a Dutch colonial outpost.

We went for a drive round yesterday after the never ending visit to customs and immigration (always the first job )we have to do the same in Aruba (different department) and went to a place called Rincon which was supposed to be the cultural centre of the island (Jenny's suggestion-I wanted to find the chandlers) we couldn't find any culture but we did have a good drive round and found some ancient writings several donkeys and some goats.

During our trip another one of the BWR boats arrived called Hakuna Matata (remember the Lion King) and we went out to dinner with them in the marina restaurant and had a super fish meal and everyone sang Happy birthday to me in Spanish with my one candle on a slice of cake.

That' it for now we are ff to snorkel
