Its a new day and a new dawn,Had a really
interesting watch last night 0300-0600 all in the dark but we had 3 different
ships heading for us from 3 different directions, needless to say they all missed
us and each other I'm pleased to say.But it did call for a stint on the radar as
the visibility was closing in as well all told that little lot kept me occupied
virtually all of my watch,no hot chocolate and a few chapters of my
book.
We do have a varied selection of amusements on
board to keep everyone happy and occupied,in days of old the sailors started the
day by scrubbing the decks with a pumice type stone called a 'holy' or something
similar. That was a hands and knees job which took hours but it kept the crew
busy,if I suggested that now the answer would be unrepeatable and I would think
we would wear through the decks in a couple of days. The decks of old were
several inches thick and made of good solid English Oak,have you not seen Master
and Commander yet with Russell Crowe.
In addition flogging created some variation in the
normal chores,I don't think the crew are up for that either although I
can't be sure some times.Back to modern things we have loads of books DVD,CD
magazines (normally about sailing) and games scrabble, monopoly, etcand also the
chores to do of cooking cleaning repairing and generally sailing the
boat.
Time soon goes as you adjust your pace of life to
the routine of the boat. The big choice today was what to have for dinner
,guess what its lamb chops tonight goody
