Oh ye of little faith – of course everything worked (apart from the rev counter)! It was a bit fumy at first, but the exhaust gaskets soon bedded in and the smoke cleared.

R&R in Alcudia

We anchored in the bay in Alcudia for a couple of oil changes and to cool off. The children (plus Carole who was staying on PAX) took PAX BACH out for a spin.

Once we were really sure that the engine was OK, we headed off north around Mallorca.

We found the little anchorage at Cala de la Calobra, which is tucked away behind some big rocks, and had a beer for Paul’s birthday.

B&B found a Swedish boat full of kids and together they went off and found a rock to jump off.

We left Cala de la Calobra behind and motored on south, catching a tuna on the way – thank goodness – we thought that we were losing our touch on the fish front!

Meeting up with Mike and Mandie

While we had been sailing west, Mike and Mandie (TENGY) had been sailing east along the coast of mainland Spain to meet up with us. They had never intended to come as far east as the Balearics, but when we got stuck in Alcudia with the engine, they came to find us. As we motored into the anchorage in Santa Ponsa we were met by a dinghy full of friends – not only Mike and Mandie but also Geoff and Lyn (DRY WHITE)! It was brilliant to see everyone again and to catch up on all the news. As far as I remember, more than one bottle of cava was opened...

The next evening the party continued with a BBQ on PAX (with music of course). We said goodbye to Geoff and Lyn as they headed off to explore Mallorca and Menorca, and then with just a tiny a hint of wind forecast, we set off for Ibiza.
