)
After a erratic night sail with winds gusting up to
40 kts we slowly settled into the idea that it might be a good idea to do some
sailing today.
sailing in the trade winds in your trunks sure
beats the hell out of northern europe ,rain and 5 c
Sorry to have to report but its actually great
fun.
We saw several boats today the 1st in a while and
heard a few on the vhf, indeed I put a call out to any arc yachts in our area
explained we were "narcs"
(definition of a "narc" ------ boats that sail
along side the arc without paying the exorbirant fee to receive your flowers and
fruit at the other end approx £ 1 k btw)
and had a conversation with a young lad who
promised top come back with weather later in the day but hasnt as yet
doh.
Hey ho I was only making conversation
anyway................
My watch was 2-5 am last night commonly known as
the dog watch ( because its crap basically) when a gust came from no where to
take us from a benign 22 kts to 40 plus kts, a frantic call for crew was put out
to have Jan and greg appear on the helm desperatly trying to reef in our full
genoa.
Indeed it was quite amusing watching 2 grown men in
there underpants trying to reef some sails in torrential rain whilst trying not
to get wet Lol
Then the day followed with my 1 hour of free
weights and the boys lounging around on deck.
I know im supposed to take a break with the weights
but hey ho im actually starting to feel quite fit now 11 days without a break of
training.
Lunch was actually requested by a crew member today
and was done by myself ,pasta with tuna, sweetcorn, garlic and mayo yum
yum.
Signing off for now in this great vastness that is
the atlantic ocean, asked the boys what they wanna do tomorrow and all have
decided it wouldnt be a bad thing go to sailing
............................
Love to all
Mark,Mike,Jan and Greg
