Babe!

So a couple of days of mishaps and issues:
a) Trapped Genoa sheet in electric winch and went-on to rip the top off the
winch breaking the internal spindle - oops: £££
b) Topped up the batteries and now we don't appear to be able to charge them
above 80% - oh bugger: fixable to ££££
c) Accidently Gybed causing a shackle block to gouge a nice hole in the
coachwork rook near the forward hatch - oh shit ££
d) Kettle feel off the work-top and is now defunct - catastrophic £ we need
tea to keep us going!

Other than that we've made reasonable progress - good day on Monday and even
faster last night, leading to a heavy day today with 25-30kt winds and 4-5m
of sea swell pushing us around, hence the Gybing issue. Irrespective and not
that we're in a race or that we're even slightly competitive but we are
currently second (by only 15 miles) in the pact of 10 boats doing the
crossing, even though we didn't manage to set-off till circa 4-6 hours after
the others!! [OK 2 of the boats are crossing via the Cape Verde's and 2 of
the others are having a leisurely cruise across].

Fresh veg is starting to look rather sad now and even scraping the green
bits off doesn't quite make it any more appetising. Fresh milk runs out
tomorrow and bread already tastes funny, but no mould yet!! Thank god for
tinned stuff!!

Cheers,
Paul, Kev & Paul
