We had a very pleasant sail from Chatham Bay, Union Island back to St. Georges, Grenada in just six hours with no seasickness on board!
The highlight was that, just as Ross was thinking about putting the fishing gear away as we were sailing along the Grenada coast and almost there, we sailed through an area where the surface of the sea was boiling with fish thrashing to the surface and we caught a tuna. It was just the right size for our landing net and two delicious dinners. But most importantly Ross was delighted to have finally landed a fish and Oliver was going wild with excitement – running round the cockpit and shouting. He also was bit too excited about Chris clubbing it and the blood on the deck.
So we anchored just outside the harbour at St. Georges and the next day, after the usual couple of hours of customs and immigration formalities,we spent all day at the fabulous beach at Grand Anse which is reached by dinghy from the anchorage. The next day we did some early shopping and then went off for a few hours sailing before going to the the anchorage at the marine park at Dragons Bay for a fairly uncomfortable night of rolling around in the significant swell that built up over the last few days. Then back to St. Georges and into the Port Louis marina for our last days that will be spent cleaning, repairing and preparing Spindrift to lifted out of the water and stored ashore for what could be almost a year.
