On our first day in Bequia Oliver had a lovely day at the beach but developed a rash on his face by the evening. We took him to the hospital as we suspected an allergy from some of the plants he had been playing with and the nurse agreed and gave him some antihistamine in his eyes. But the worrying symptom was that he seemed sensitive to light. by next morning he had some nasty blisters so we went to the doctors and he diagnosed chicken pox (even though he’s had it before). So now we have antihistamine, antiviral (Zovirax), antibiotics and paracetomol for when the expected fever develops. We expected it to get worse for a couple of days before it improved over the next week or so, but after the first day it seemed to have stabilised and he is looking quite well and no more blisters have developed. Oliver has been a real Trojan even though he was clearly not feeling at all well and he is actually enjoying his medicine and drinking lots of water, just as the doctor ordered!
