Falmouth to Camaret
Amoret

7th and 8th September gave the window that we
needed to get to W Brittany. With a westerly breeze we made great progress
for about half the way, deliberately heading well west of our course in view of
a forecast of winds backing to SE later on. This cunning stratagem failed as the
wind just died, then came in from the SE around dawn when we were motoring well
inside the Chenal du Four. After rounding Pointe St Mathieu (in the background
of the photo of Paul and Tony) we moored up in Camaret, pleased to find that
there was plenty of room in the sheltered inner harbour of Port du Notic. Since
arriving we have eaten lots of good food, struggled to fix the
domestic water pressurisation pump (failed - the pressure switch had
died but fortunately we have a foot pump as backup) and gone for
a great walk along the cliff-tops of the Presqu'ile de Crozon meeting an
unexpected megalithic site. We are waiting for the remains of hurricane Hannah
to go through, after which there seem to be at least 3 days of NW breeze which
we hope to get across Biscay to NW Spain.
