Out in the middle

Amoret

Amoret is now approaching the mid-point of the passage from Cape Verde to the Azores. As expected, it has al ben very much to windward, but the wind has, as we hoped, veered from NE to E as we approch the high presure. We are well out of the tropics now and are approaching the latitude of the southern Canary Islands (though 550M west of them). Conditions were pretty rugged yesterday and the night before, close reaching in F6 with seas of 4-5m - lots of green water over the foredeck, goffers in the cockpit and water coming down the deck vents. However, today has been much moe civilised with salt-water bucket baths and bread about to go into the oven.
