We had very Iittle wind and decided to go to Palma to top up with water and pick up P and F. It would also mean that we could be sure of being able to go into the old town for dinner. Rang around the marinas and opted for Real Club Nautico. We followed the marinero into a side pontoon that had just enoigh room for us to turn into, our dinghy on its davits clearing the opposite boat by a couple of metres. Moored nose to, fixed the bow ladder and looked around. We were just a little way from where we had picked up our boat on our charter week in Majorca with S and L, C and C.

Visited the chandlery, toddled into the old town, and wandered about a while until P and F arrived from the airport. Beers outside the "station" bar, back to the boat for a wash and brush up and a bit of orientation for our new guests. Then back into town for dinner. The old town is very lively. Having previously driven around Palma years ago, and concluded that there was nothing to see, we are glad that we eventually got to see Palma old town on our last visit, and it is nice to be back.

Parties of German tourists are being guided around by leaders holding up numbered signs and the restaurants fill up quickly. We dive into one that looks ok, and has a guitarist playing. I buy his CD out of solidarity with not very good guitarists.

We had spotted the jaz bar on the way to eat and now we went in for a quick beer. There was a video of a supergroup gig on the tv (Clapton, Knopler, Elton, McCartney, even Cliff) must work out what it was in aid of. 1980s by the look of the baggy suits.

First up was an angst filled duo of guitarists, all grey hair and beards and old blues. Similar grey haired men dotted the walls nodding and foot tapping and occasionally saying "oh yeah". Things livened up when a band called Funk Monster came on stage and played a great set of funky toons. The pogoing and mouth organ playing singer was at least 40, but the age group and energy levels had definitely gone down a decade or two and we made the most of our youth by staying for a couple more beers.

Eventually found our way back to the boat and bed.
