Pre-dawn departure from our hbr (avoiding the now known shallow,
bumpy bits) for a short motor to the bottom of the islands and to "Thilands" the
first of our surf locations actually documented on Magic Seaweed (which has been
the primary source for surf info on the Mentawais).
A perfect day with
sunshine and classic tropical crystal clear water and coral fringed beaches -
unfortunately the swell not quite arrived but the surfers paddled in regardless
and had an enjoyable morning surfing session in idyllic weather and
surrounds.
Heading off to the
next name-break, "Tea Bags" around the SW corner of Simeulue on a small outlying
island Pulau Tapah.
