Well, today is the last day at sea for a week or so and we are both pretty excited, Fi more than anything. At the moment I do not know how to feel, I honestly could stay out for another month in this if I had the beer. Food is certainly no problem also we have now run out of onions which is pretty serious. To be honest we have eaten very little of what we provisioned this is partly due to our appetites shrinking which is normal for sailors doing such a crossing it is also to do with the amount of fish we have eaten. Even now as I type I have my line out the back in the hope I catch another monster that can feed us and our friend for the next week.

Well, what do you know the line went crazy about 3 hrs from land, perfect timing, fish fish fish. Cleaning this sucker at Sea was not easy in the huge swell we had on the way in and to top it off each time a squall came through it was gale force.

Special comments by Fiona:  I woke this morning after my last watch at 7:30am and felt incredibly excited, like a kid on Christmas eve.  As I type we are 41 miles from Antigua.  We are sailing nicely and at a rapid pace for us at 6 knots.  The swell and waves have increased a lot and it is so rough down in the cabin that I got thrown out of bed, even with the lee cloth up!  At first I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, having landed on my elbow, grazed my leg and in a bit of pain, but I saw the funny side of being thrown out of bed.

I will keep busy today by cleaning the interior of the boat so that when we do drop anchor, the boat is at least clean and not the mess it’s been in for the past 20 days.  I’m yet to spot land though but when I do I’m sure it will seem ages until we finally reach it!
