We pulled up our anchor from the Portuguese side of the river and sailed out to sea Tuesday 7th October at 8:34AM, headed for Mazagon 37:08.04N 6:50.25W

As we sailed down the river and out into the deep I could not believe my eyes to find a fishing flag in the middle of the buoyed channel.  I mean this fisherman must be having a laugh, who in their right mind would do that?  These things are a pain in the back side, they have meant my fishing is pretty much a no go which really sucks, as all my dreams of living on fresh fish have slowly faded away, night sailing is a no go and a constant look out is required as you run the things down every now and again resulting in fishing rope being caught on your prop.  I am just fed up with it all. These bloody fishermen do not give a damn!  All they do is take from the sea and give nothing back at all and then they think they own the joint. Well enough is enough, I say if I were carrying a shot gun or two I would cut the next fishing pot I run over or get stuck in my prop but then I would be a bad as they are.

After a little while of motoring the wind picked up as predicted which gave Fi and I the opportunity to fly the kite again. It also meant we were able to try out our new system we had made which all worked well.   I think if we had not of sailed today I would of gone mad as all it seems of late is a windless adventure. I did not plan on meeting all the bowser boys at each filling station along the Atlantic coast of Spain and Portugal.

As we came into our destination we rounded what is meant to be one of the if not the longest breakwater walls in Europe and when we eventually did we sailed onto anchor and got our selves ready for a quick couple of beers in town. Part of this was putting on my new anchor chain snubber which is now going to help with a good night sleep I hope. After the last few places where we have anchored on rocks the last thing I want to hear in the night is the grind of chain under us and wondering if it is just the chain grinding or is it Silky secretly slipping off into the night without telling us.

We jumped in the dingy, met up with our friends, found a bar and drank beer and ate tapas, how I missed Spain, it is all so good.

Special comments by Fiona:  I love my job of hoisting the courtesy flag each time we arrive in a new country.  And to top it off we had a fantastic sail today.  Of the 7 hour hop today, we sailed 6 and a half of it with the kite up.  We cruised along comfortably and made great timing to Mazagon.  I loved it even more that we are now in Spain again!
