Departing Belize
17.44.79N 88.01.83W Hi there, As you can guess by the title, we have decided to take a window in the weather around Florida and head up to the Florida Keys. This means a departure either later today or early tomorrow (depending on final forecast update). We will be in rather bouncy conditions for the first 12 hours or so but need to catch the break in the winds off the Keys as they stop going in their normal west direction…. and before they start up again. The problem is that west-going winds against the east-going Gulf Stream makes for a very rough sea state. However, the current is going in the right direction of our travel, so that should give us a boost….. Hope so! Will try to post updates as we sail north, but may have to wait till we get to Key West or Dry Tortuga. Best Wishes, J&G |
