                | 13.38.392 N 92.57.782 E The short distance from Table Islands to Landfall
Island was a bit tricky with the strong currents in various directions going
around the north cape of North Andaman Island, thankfully there were no strong
winds to make it too difficult. We found a spot to anchor in this big bay off
Landfall Island. The charts we have on Maxsea and navionics are not reliable, so
it is a question of eye-balling. It is a nice bay when the tide is high, but
when the water is low it show an enormous area of dead coral. We had a wander
around in the dinghy, but it is hard to find a place to go ashore where you can
walk. No white sandy beaches here. The snorkeling near the boat was the best we
have seen here. Some coral had survived and there was some significant new
growth. Surprisingly there always seem to be plenty of fish. Two days here has
been enough. We have had a rest and done a few jobs. So we start to make our way
back to Port Blair tomorrow. That will take a few days. |
