We motor sailed just 9 miles from Rebak Island Marina to an anchorage we had previously visited in January – a stunning bay that hosts the 5 star Andaman and Datai resorts. We stayed 3 nights in this gorgeous spot and although the water looked enticing on my first dip I got stung by a jellyfish on my foot that left me in a lot of pain for a couple of hours – nevertheless vinegar and a glass of wine helped to dull the pain! The next two evenings we went ashore to the resorts for a walk and a beverage – the Datai is much more exclusive and where we saw several macaque monkeys in the surrounding rainforest. The Mat Cincang mountains are some of the oldest geological material on earth at around 600 million years old and the rainforest is over 10 million years old – a very special little corner of the world.
