Shipyard update
I have been a
bit slack with the blog so I better bring you up to speed on our movements since
I last wrote. We were on the hardstand in the marina for 9 nights and spent 3
days putting the antifouling paint on ourselves (saved $5K by doing this). The
new propeller was installed and the shaft was bent (so had to be heated and
straightened by engineers) and realigned. Unfortunately the Volvo engine service
was not completed while we were out of the water as the fuel injectors had to be
removed and serviced and we had to wait for 10 days for the parts. So we were
without an engine, but as Monty and Mitch were arriving on Monday we thought the
only option was to get back in the water in a berth so we could have power, air
con, fridges and freezer. The marina staff towed Rex into a berth at Raffles
Marina, but it was wonderful to be in civilised surroundings again. We spent 2
days cleaning the boat after the grime from the shipyard and then met M & M
at Singapore Airport. |
