Arrived in Santa Maria Di Leuca yesterday afternoon, right on the tip of the heel of Italy. Set off in the rain but it turned out sunny which was pleasant after the horrid rain storms the day before.

It’s a pretty seaside resort but is like a ghost town as the Italian holiday season is over. Wandered round town yesterday afternoon and Andy made a new friend in a large black and white dog. It followed us for about half a mile along the main street. Quite amusing as it wandered down the middle of the road, cars had to stop and the drivers all gave Andy a filthy look as they thought it was his. The dog obviously was quite used to owning the road and moved out the way in its own time. When we stopped at a shop, the dog lay down at the side of the road to wait for Andy. A woman came out of the shop and thought it belonged to us, but had to point out it didn’t. The dog waited 10mins but then decide to follow some other bloke down the road instead. By the time we got out the shop it had returned to find Andy, much to his horror. However it eventually took off in another direction.

Sunny today which is the first sunbathing day in ages. Found a fantastic ice cream shop and keeping busy working our way through their menu.
