Finally arrived in Croatia yesterday afternoon in
Cavtat. Stunning town and scenery and anchored in the middle of the bay with
few others around us. Today is the first day in a week that we’ve been
able to stay at anchor and not have to get up before dawn to get moving.
People are very friendly and contrary to rumours we
picked up on our travels in Greece,
food and eating out here is cheaper that there (so far!) plus the selection of
food is great. Weather wise, it is still very hot for sunbathing in the day but
at night it cools down to a pleasant temperature which means you can put
clothes on in the evening and not sweat buckets.
Planned to go to Dubrovnik next but after a chat with a
friendly Russian sailor, we’ve been informed that you need to book marina
spaces months in advance there as it’s so popular. However will call and
see if we can squeeze in.
Andy has not had a haircut for months and needless to
stay he needs one. It’s my job today to make his hair shorter. He has a
baseball cap ready if he needs to hide the results until he can find a proper hairdresser.
Loads of very large (100 ft plus) gin palaces here on
the quay. Just watched 3 pulling out of the quay hoping that their anchors were
not entangled.
