At last we’ve seen an improvement in the wind strength over the past 24 hours rising to a consistent 13-17 knots of north / north easterly wind resulting in our best daily progress to date of 169NM in the past 24 hours under main and poled out headsail . The increased wind has been accompanied by a slightly rougher sea state but it remains ‘moderate’ at most with the occasional 3 m high Atlantic roller crossing our beam.
The dawn brought the sad news that the fishing line being trolled astern had been taken by a fish overnight - it must have been a big one - so we had no choice but to revert to bacon and egg sandwiches for breakfast accompanied by the gentle lull of the generator charging batteries.
Patchy sun and light cloud so far today and only 1 solitary dolphin visit but we remain hopeful of more wildlife sightings and fewer ships( Photo is of yesterdays dolphin visit )
